WSH type vest
The HSGI Wasatch design vest was created for the needs of the United States Special Operations Forces. It combines the advantages of the chest rig type vests and the so called plate carriers. It is adapted to carry two SAPI plates, one in the front and one in the rear part of the vest. In order to increase the comfort of use, the shoulder bands which connect the front and rear panels were layered with the so called comfort pads.
In front of the vest, there is a sewn on pouch which is commonly named as the kangaroo pouch – it holds 12 M4/M16 type magazines or 6 AK or M14 type magazines. Of course, it is possible to carry other types of magazines in the quantities depending on their sizes. Additionally, the vest is equipped with a smoke grenade pouch ( or other which is similarly sized ) and a secure MBITR type radio pouch or any radio that is similarly sized.
There is also a small hook&loop closed pouch located on the front panel. It can hold a map, documents or any other flat object.
The whole vest is covered with PALS webbing meeting the MOLLE standard. It allows to attach different type of additional pouches and pockets which meet the aforementioned standard. This allows to increase the vest’s carrying capabilities to an enormous amount which was so far reserved for the heaviest and biggest types of vest.
The best quality fabrics and buckles were used to make this vest, this includes the 1000D NVISTA CORDURA and, in some places, the 420D nylon net
The WSH type vest is a perfect compromise between great carrying capabilities, protection and light basic construction.
